The Pax Humana Foundation (PHF)

The Pax Humana Foundation, established on 16 June 2022, is a Rome-based nonprofit dedicated to fostering peace, human security, stability, and socio-economic development across the broader Mediterranean region, including Southern Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East, and Africa. Its vision is to create a transformative “Pax Humana” era where dignity, resilience, and creativity of individuals are central.

The Wider Mediterranean

The Mediterranean transcends mere geographical dimensions and serves as a crossroads where peoples, cultures, and civilizations have emerged, converged, and sometimes clashed. These exchanges have given rise to knowledge, concepts, customs, dialects, and beliefs that have shaped our identities and played a pivotal role in defining our present. Understanding and recognizing the histories and cultures that gave birth to the Mediterranean civilization is essential for preserving identity and building a common destiny. In this perspective, it is crucial to protect these spaces and communities whose histories, memories, and heritages are now imperilled by wars, climate change, ecological disasters, community conflicts, and globalization.

What we do

In this context, Pax Humana Foundation is promoting “The Atlas of Disappearing Worlds” initiative, a contribution to the protection and revitalization of disappearing cultures and traditions.

The initiative focuses on the creation of a visual and interactive memory archive to collect, record, narrate, transmit and disseminate the memories, traces, music and stories of endangered cultures. An innovative tool that not only allows the telling of the history of peoples through their voices and perspectives, but also fosters a profound sense of hope, connection, empowerment, and resilience within communities.

The Atlas also includes:
– The organization and promotion of cultural events.
– The production of audio and visual documentation.
– The organization of artistic residencies.
